Individuals in this role provide second-level support for the Monitoring and Diagnostics Center (Remote Services Center – Gas turbine). The Diagnostics Engineer will interact with, Services Managers, Field Engineers, and Power Plant control room operators to provide improved Performance, Reliability, and Safety of Gas Turbine. This involves the assessment of the data, Log files, etc Remotely, with the intent of providing operational recommendations to internal and external customers. Case resolutions must be accurate, of high quality, and be done in a timely fashion in order to meet customer needs and business goals. Specific tasks include:

  • Owning the monitoring strategy for specific designated technical areas (i.e. GT Combustions dynamics, Compressor, Controls etc.) and driving consistent data usage and analysis for this field across GT fleet.
  • Reviewing the Operational data around specific field events and providing technical recommendations to Service Managers and external customers through the Case management system. These escalations include issues with trips, vibration, combustion, dynamics, wheel-space, bearing temps, etc.
  • Interfacing with GE Power Services Technical Centers of Excellence (Product Services and/or M&D Centers) for operational issues requiring further technical review.
  • Communicating (via email, telephone, and escalation tools) with external customers and Service Managers to ensure operational concerns and case resolutions are fully understood by all parties
  • Interacting with other groups within the Monitoring and Diagnostic team to help deliver improved Algorithms, M&D analysis and troubleshooting tools, and monitoring infrastructure changes.
  • Reviewing the OAR reports published by GE Power Services M&D Teams and communicating the information to Customers, if needed, arranging a discussion with Customers.
  • Willingness to work brief night/weekend periods of time to support 24/7 operations (low number of occurrences each year).

Should have field experience in:

power plant installation, operations, tower control operations, Startup and maintenance
Should be fluent in English language
Controls background with a solid understanding of Speedtronic MKV & MKVI controller logic and configuration
Comfortable with customer interface
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of resolution to customer technical issues
Strong communication skills (written & verbal)
Strong computer skills
Proven interpersonal skills (team building, negotiation & motivation)
Self-starter, with multi-tasking abilities
Commercial sensitivity with a focus on customer needs
