Roles and Responsibility:

Ensure maintenance of the ESH Management System including implementation
and maintenance of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 certifications for site/ business.
Ensure that ESH Management system continues to add value and is continuously
improved.
Coordinate in conducting periodic ESH Committee & Management Review
Meetings to monitor the effectiveness of Management Systems and; ESH programs.
Ensure that all site meets legal, contractual and corporate requirements for ESH
including Occupational Medicine (OM) and vehicle safety requirements
Identify all ESH risks for business from time to time and put in place programs to
mitigate them.
Ensure site/ business obtains all external approvals and permits for projects in a
timely manner.
Ensure all statutory and Monsanto Occupational Medicine (OM) requirements
including but not limited to periodic medical examination, blood borne pathogen
training, first aid training, hepatitis vaccination, maintenance of employee health
records are met.
Institutionalize a culture which reflects the commitment to ensure an illness and
injury free workplace by everyone in the business.
Prepare and deliver safety training programs related to OHSAS 18001, ISO
14001, Monsanto Fundamental Requirements and local regulations.
Building awareness among employees on ESH topics by devising and
conducting appropriate programs during National Safety Week Celebrations,
National Electrical Safety Week, World Environment Day, World Water Day, etc.
Provide guidance to Coordinate Off-the-Job Safety (OTJS) and CSR activities at
site to positively impact employees, non-employees and customers.
Provide direction to field safety programs in production locations and at tolling
units.
To ensure effective on-boarding of new employees and ensure they are oriented
on all applicable ESH, Occupational Medicine and Vehicle Safety requirements.
Identify ESH issues by carrying out periodic inspections and audits and work.
with plant teams to put up necessary controls to eliminate / reduce / mitigate the risk.
Imbibe safety culture driven by Leaders and People Managers, through specific
intervention / training / discussions.
Act as subject matter expert for all site and business ESH issues.
Ensure all relevant licenses/ permits are obtained for the manufacturing
operations and site meets all related conditions.
Ensure emergency preparedness for fire, explosion, natural calamities and
medical emergencies at the site.

Ensure that the site has adequate environmental programs in areas of air, water,
wastewater, hazardous chemicals and hazardous waste including safe disposal
Ensure site has periodic environmental (all air and wastewater media), industrial
hygiene, drinking water and process safety (electrical safety, pressure vessel, lifting
equipment, etc.) monitoring program which meets regulatory requirement.

ESH
To provide direction and resources required to implement ESH policy and
programs and foster a culture of Safety amongst all the people directly or indirectly
under their area of influence.
To demonstrate action of safety as a value to People, Organisation and Society
at large.

Knowledge and Education Background:

Diploma in Industrial Safety
Additional Post Graduation degree/ diploma is desirable
Certified OHSAS 18001 or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor is desirable
Knowledge of Indian ESH and HR legislation (legal / company requirements)
including but not limited to state Factories Rules, Air Act, Water Act, Environmental
Protection Act and all related Rules, SMPV Rules, Petroleum Rules, Motor Vehicle
Act, etc.
Excellent Documentation, Written Communication and Presentation skills
Incident investigation coordination experience
Management of Change (MOC) reviews
Good verbal communication skills in local language prevalent at site  is desirable

Experience:

2+ years ESH management experience preferably managing manufacturing
sites in a multinational company
